When do we say: presentation on sth and presentation of sth?

I think both are used: the presentation of a play; the presentation on child abuse; the presentation of scientific evidence.

When do we say: presentation on sth and presentation of sth?

i think there's a slight difference
When the thing itself is on display you say'presentation of......

And when sth else is displayed in connection with it ,you say presentation on sth...........

Experts to comment....

When do we say: presentation on something and presentation of something?

"presentation on" = "presentation about"

He gave a presentation on the subject of child abuse = He gave a prepared lecture about the topic [probably with slides/PowerPoint]

Yesterday there was a presentation at the Civic Hall on the problems of traffic control.

"presentation of" = something is being presented to someone.

There was a presentation of prizes after the competition

The new ambassador was presented to the Queen at Buckingham Palace

The point remains to be the same ,
If it is the thing/person(like the ambassador)being prsented ,it's prsentation of
and if it is about something it is presentation on

Thank you for clearing this point.

I put it so clearly because we (the people with Eng as 2nd language) tend to fit English usage into rules and definations .
However the beauty of English languge is it's inconsistancies .It' s acceptance to varients is it's strength and reason of it's spread across the globe.
(my own thoughts)
