[Grammar] Preposition

Hi!

Please confirm if the below mentioned sentence is correct.

"On xx.xx.xx Mr. ABC died and the property devolved on the vendors"

I think that it would be better if it is this way:

"...the property devolved in the name of the vendors"

or

"... the property devolved onto vendors"

Please guide as to what preposition is better or correct.

I am not a teacher, but for me I reckon that the following sentence sounds better: ' ...the property was devolved to vendors' or ' the property devolved on vendors' . It's seems to me nice.
