posture=usual position

What does the author mean by saying "in postures"? Is he talking about the usual position of the corpse?
"Scarcely, in truth, is a graveyard ever encroached upon, for any purpose, to any great extent, that skeletons are not found in postures which suggest the most fearful of suspicions." (http://poestories.com/read/premature)
 
He is talking about the corpses/skeletons being found not lying flat on their backs, as one would expect of a dead body in a coffin, but in contorted positions - leading to the suspicion that they had been buried alive, and had wakened up to find themselves entombed...
