Place to basket

I saw it today in your typical supermarket in Poland at the self checkout (Auchan). A nice, pretty wide platform near the machine, where I am supposed to put my shopping basket on, said "Place to basket".

This looked extremely odd to me. I'd write "Place for the basket" on it instead, or "Place for basket" if I felt lazy minimalistic enough.

I'd expect a major chain store in Poland to care enough to hire a proper translator for the job, but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if they just simply effed up because nobody cared.

Does it look right to you? Does it look OK-ish but could be better? Does it look completely wrong and whoever's responsible should flagellate themself with a dictionary?

Completely wrong in my opinion. And I live in a place where we hear and see a great deal of bad English, which we must tolerate.

It's completely wrong. It should say "Place basket here" or just "Basket here".

Unlikely- we native speakers can outbad you over in Poland. Our supermarkets can talk more nonsense than most, effortlessly.
