I am introducing phrasal verbs to a class of high beginner ESL students. In the past, I have always just told students what a certain phrasal verb means. This semester there is a portion of the curriculum that dives right into the subject. We will use a great book on how we really talk using phrasal verbs. However, there are really just so many phrasal verbs. The book has a lot of great information that shows the most common phrasal verbs, history of them, diagrams I can use as visuals, and exercises to complete, but...Does anyone have any suggestions for organizing phrasal verbs and making them more memorable, or how they can hear these words in action in a very small college community?

FYI- If anyone has already used the book, "How We Really Talk Using Phrasal Verbs in English," then please post what you did in class.

Are they only studying ESL at the college? If not, is there any possibility to organise relevant verbs by subject/topic for them?
