Have I made any mistakes?

Peter spent years building his cottage by the sea. Just before it was finished, a storm blew up and a lighting hit it, setting it on fire. In the morning, Peter stood by the destroyed building and, holding his head in his hands shouted, "So much sacrifice for nothing! What have I done to deserve this?"

Peter spent years building his cottage by the sea. Just before it was finished, there was a storm [STRIKE]blew up[/STRIKE] and the cottage was hit by lightning, [STRIKE]a lighting hit it,[/STRIKE] setting it on fire. [STRIKE]In the[/STRIKE] The next morning, Peter stood by the destroyed building and, holding his head in his hands, shouted (no comma here) "So much sacrifice for nothing! See above. In case you miss it, note the correct spelling of "lightning". We don't use it in the singular. Lightning is uncountable. The countable noun is "a bolt of lightning".
