Hi,

Could a native speaker answer this question?

We have this direct-speech statement:
Laura: "I will help you if you help me tomorrow."

Which of the following reported-speech statements derived from the above is/are natural?

The below reported-speech statements are all said one week later.

If more than one of them is natural, please say so!

1) Laura said she would help him if he helped her the following/next day.

2) Laura said she would help him if he helps her the following/next day.

3) Laura said she would help him if he will help her the following/next day.

4) Laura said she would help him if he would help her the following/next day.

5) Other

Thank you! :-D

If they are all said one week later, then I would use only #1.

(If it were later the same day, then you could possibly use "helps" with "tomorrow.")

Thank you very much. :-D

#4 is acceptable English, but it does not report your original statement.
