How can i start the sentence below. Without using i at the beginning of the sentence.
Is there a better way to begin a sentence.

I am applying for the position of part time junior web assistant.

(I) This is the culprit.

You could write: "My application is for the position of junior web assistant." It depends on where in your letter you are going to put it, it wouldn't be a good opening sentence for example. There is nothing wrong with your original sentence by the way.

This is my letter of application.......................

The position of junior part time web assistant interests me greatly, and I would like to apply for it with this letter.

My interest in working in a web based company leads me to apply for the position of.................................

However, I agree that there's nothing wrong in saying "I would like to etc."

I am not a teacher.

Yes, you're correct. The word "I" can put people off sometimes. Employers want to know what you can do for their company, not what you're doing for yourself at this moment or any given moment.

Also, making a request is gentler than simply telling someone what you are doing.

Please, accept ... - This sounds less self-centered than "I am.."

Try saying, "Your advertisement for .... in XXXXX interests me and I am applying for this position."

thanks alot to everyone who has posted, there are lots of good examples:)
