[Grammar] not only did he steal the money, but he also stole the jewellery

I'm wondering can the the above be written as:
- not only did he steal the money, but also stole the jewellery.....

Is it alright to omit 'he' after 'but'?

It feels like both are okay, though one of them may not be correct grammatically.

I think the second part is an independent clause which requires the subject "he". The "but" could be omitted though.
 
I think 'he' is not needed after 'but' in 'He did not only steal the money but also stole the jewellery'.
 
He stole not only the money but also the jewellery.
He stole both the money and the jewellery.
