Richard Trevithick made the first train in 1803 but no one used the train until 1829 when Stephenson built the Rocket.

I’d like to put a comma after the year 1829 to make the when-clause a non-defining relative clause. What do you say?

Richard Trevithick made the first train in 1803 but no one used the train until 1829, when Stephenson built the Rocket.

He built the first train in 1803.

used the technology?

Richard Trevithick built the first operational locomotive. It was used for mining operations.

(Why would you build something and then not use it?)
