[Grammar] Near and Nearby

Can anyone help me with this? I got negative score for using "near you" for the below sentence:

Visit the link to locate a Walmart near you.
Here is the use of "near you" inappropriate or wrong?
If yes then why?
If the sentence is grammatically correct, then please explain.
As per my evaluator, the correct sentence should have been
Code:
Visit the link to locate a Walmart nearby you.
Please note, I have nothing to do with Walmart. Just using it as an example.

[Near (preposition)is correct. Nearby (adverb) is not

So, the one I used is correct?
There is nothing wrong with

The one you used is correct and natural.
 
... to find a Walmart near you.
... to find a Walmart nearby.

Those are correct. I hope that you will show this thread to your teacher as proof that you were right and he/she was wrong.
