Hi.

Are the following two sentences natural? Will native speakers use them?

1) NBC executives are waiting to see how the show fares in the ratings.
2) The workers were distributed based on their special talents.

The source is not known now. It's very likely that they are from Chinese-English websites.

Things are distributed, not people.

I agree with tedmc. Perhaps try something like "allocated" instead.

1) NBC executives are waiting to see how the show fares in the ratings.
2) The workers were allocated based on their special talents.

Are these two sentences okay now?

I would prefer "assigned" for people, "allocated" for objects/things.

Are these two whole sentences okay now?

If you remove "allocated".

Yes, they are. And there's nothing wrong with "allocated".

In order to show my respect to all the teachers here, I wrote down both "allocated" and "assigned". ;-)

As I mentioned previously, I prefer "assigned", not that "allocated" is "wrong". From MacMillan:
"to officially give something to someone, or to decide that something can be used for a specific purpose"

I am certain that in a recent thread I said you should stop using "Will" there and use another word. You thanked me and said you would follow my advice. What word should you have used?

Sorry, emsr2d2. I did see your advice and I'd love to follow that. It should be "would". I actually didn't use this sentence at all ("Will native speakers use them") but because I am not allowed to have my sentences checked in Ask a Teacher, so I asked here to make sure if they are "natural".

I made this mistake again was simply because I wrote these questions before posting them; I did it in the Word and the I pasted this one here.

I am sorry for keeping making this mistake and will not make it again.

I prefer "assigned" too, as "allocate" is used mostly with resources like money and time.

Another possibility is "deployed".
