That should be "Doctor of Medicine". If the quote is aimed at American English, it should say "Dr. Burk".

To me it means a person who has received a Doctor of Medicine degree.

I think "digestive aids" is fine. There are products on the market designed to aid one's digestion, and they're called "Digestive Enzymes".
