I've recently watched the film "Saving Mr. Banks" and I was a little intrigued by the use of the verb "to need" in the continuous aspect in the sentence below:
"I had the impression a certain friend might be needing me".
Is it used correctly?
Thank you!

Yes, it is.

The continuous could suggest the limited duration of the need of its immediacy - now..
