1. There are much more people than I expected.

2. There are many more people than I expected.

Which is correct?

2. There are many more people than I expected.

Which is correct?
"Many" is correct.
 
'Many' is used for countable nouns and much is used for noncount / uncountable. too much traffic, for example, as traffic is uncountable, or water. And too many cars, for example, as cars are countable (one car, two cars, and so on)
