Hi, Is the sentence correct?
Mike is said to have died two days ago. I think it’s wrong. Because it happened in the past, but the present perfect is used in the sentence. However, I am not sure if past tense can follow “to”. What do you think?

Mike is said to have died two days ago.
The present perfect is not used in that sentence. 'To have died' is the perfect infinitive. This infinitive form functions for both past and perfect tenses/aspects:

I hear he has died - He is said to have died.
I hear he died - He is said to have died.

Hi. Is the following sentence correct?

Mike is said to have died two days ago.

I think it’s wrong no full stop here because it happened in the past, but the present perfect is used in the sentence. However, I am not sure if a past tense can follow “to”. What do you think?

Bob: Mike is said to have died two days ago.
Rob: Well, did he or didn't he?
Bob: Well, somebody said he did.
Rob: If I were you I wouldn't go around saying that to people.
Bob: Why not?
Rob: Because if he's not really dead you will look silly.
Bob: Oh.

When exactly did he die?
