Metric Myopia — Trading Away Our Clinical Judgment

Lisa Rosenbaum, M.D.
Proliferating measures of health care quality may distract clinicians from what matters to individual patients and from larger public health problems. Has the quality-improvement movement gone astray by ignoring the complexity of both high-quality care and physicians’ motivations?

Does metric here mean "of, or relating to, a standard of measurement"?

It relates to the measures of healthcare quality. Not really to the 'standard', but to the measures themselves. The title is saying the measures are short-sighted.
