Hello teachers,

How to ask by what means of transport one is travelling?

eg

I am going by bike.

What would be the question?

1) How are you going?

2)How are going by?

3)By what are going ?

Thank you.

A common way in BrE is: How are you getting there/to X?

To elicit a full answer, we would say:

How are you getting there?
How are you going to get to [name of place]?

To elicit a yes/no answer:

Are you going there by bike?
Are you cycling there?
Are you going there on the bus?
Are you going there by car?
Are you driving there?
Are you going there on the train?

thank you for your replies.

What about my suggestions?

1) How are you going?

2)How are going by?

3)By what are going ?

Are those wrong or not natural?

The first is possible. #2 and #3 are not.
