In this context, the ideal is identical with the best. So "less than ideal" means "not the best". For example:

"My new job paid very well, but considering the abrasive colleagues I had to deal with, things were less than ideal."

There is something strange going on. I had to reduce the font size in post #1 because it was enormous! I changed it to Arial size 3.

It was so small when I saw it I skipped the question.

It's copy and paste and has not been pasted as plain text, so it has brought the original code with it and then people have been editing it to try to sort the size out.
