I understand "solid streak" as "stable increase". Am I on the right track?

There have been increases in jobs for several months. Positive numbers, not negative.

AmE uses streak in reference to both sports and gambling. A streak is a long unbroken succession of wins or losses. So you can be on a winning streak or a losing streak.
