Is "lunch break" similar to "noon" in not needing an article?

None of them is natural English. "He went to lunch" or "He went for his lunch break" are more likely.
 
Perhaps this is American: He's on his lunch break.
 
Modifying the example slightly:

"He went on lunch break."
"He went on a lunch break."
"He went on the lunch break."

Use either "his" or "a."
