While it's still wet, go over the wash with a second stronger wash of phthalo blue. Look for any lines around the buildings that need defining, and delineate their edges with the point of a brush. This is a graded wash, painted wet in wet.

Hi there,
I wonder what look for could mean in this context. In my opinion it should have the meaning of something like look out for... or take care for any lines...Look for doesn't really fit in here in my opinion. I much appreciate your help. Thank you.

Thank you. Then, what does it mean in your opinion?

I think the meaning of these words is pretty clear: Look for any lines around the buildings that need defining ...

Thank you.
No, It isn't pretty clear to me, I'm afraid. Please tell me what look for does mean in your opinion in this context. I don't have any idea, actually. Maybe, there is a synonym or you can explain what one have to do.

If you look for something, you try to find it.

But that doesn't make any sense in this context in my opinion. The lines are there on the paper and you don't need to find them - they are obvious to the eye. That's the issue I have actually.

The lines that need defining may not be so obvious.

You need to look carefully at the painting and search for (look for) any lines that, on closer inspection, need a bit more definition.

Thanks again.
OK, I think I understand now. I've skipped the word any, I'm afraid. Some lines are distinct and some other lines are indistinct and I have to search for those which are indistinct or faint. Then I have to go with my brush to those indistinct lines and redefine them.

The lines may also be less obvious to the person viewing the painting.
