[Grammar] Long o sound?

I'd like to ask if the word 'boar' as in wild boar has a long o sound or not.

So yes, that's a long vowel sound.
 
To call it a "long o sound" is a bit strange to me, though.
 
Yes, it's a long vowel but not a long o.
 
It has the sound in BrE of /[FONT=&quot]ɔː[/FONT]/, the vowel that we hear in thought, law, north, war.

But not in AmE. There it is clearly a long "o" sound, to my ear quite distinct from the vowel in the examples given by Piscean.
 
Yes it's a long 'o' in AmE.
