Hi,

I read this sentence camdict/shrivel:

You ought to pick those lettuces before they shrivel up and die.

How do you pronounce “lettuces”? May I ask for the IPA?

Lettuce is uncountable in American English. We don't use the plural form except when reading Beatrix Potter stories aloud. :)

The plural "lettuces" is rare. Its most common use is when discussing varieties of lettuce: Bibb, iceberg, Boston etc. Less frequently the plural is used to mean heads of lettuce, as in this example from the Corpus of Contemporary American English: "bagging lettuces down at the packing house."
