Lasts two hours vs Lasts for two hours.

Hi,Could anyone tell me which is correct:


The film lasts two hours.

Or:

The film lasts for two hours.

They could both be used, but the first sounds more natural. I would be more likely to use the preposition where the duration was not fixed or for something that lasted longer than expected- I thought it would be quick, but the interview lasted for an hour and a half. ;-)
