Last week Tom said he would come to see me. But he hasn't come yet.
(By a student of mine)

The student asked me this question.

If Tom still wants to come, can
will be used instead of would? Like this:

Last week Tom said he will come to see me. But he hasn't come yet.

My answer is “yes”. What do you say?

Look at the line I have marked in blue in post #1. You've made an error. Use the Edit Post facility to fix it and then we can answer.
