Hello.

Are the following sentences grammatically correct?

"Kelly and Kevin walked down the street. Kelly walked on purpose under a staircase. Kevin preferred to avoid the stairs, walking in another path. Then he ran to catch up Kelly."

Thanks.

Is this about superstition?

Dear teechar:

Yes, it is related to a superstition.

Thanks.

Kelly and Kevin walked down the street. Kelly deliberately walked [STRIKE]on purpose[/STRIKE] under a staircase, but Kevin [STRIKE]preferred to[/STRIKE] avoided that and walked a different way. [STRIKE]the stairs, walking in another path.[/STRIKE] Then he ran to catch up with Kelly."

Thanks.
.

I've never heard of a superstition about walking under staircases, only about walking under ladders.
