Just finished dinner and I say:

I haven't had this much food in a while!

VS

I haven't had that much food in a while!

What's the difference here?
 
Not much. If you are still at the table, use "this". If you have left the table, use "that".
 
And if you're still at the table,but things have been cleared away, use that.
