[Grammar] Joining sentences with "where"

I've been to Paris. My dad was born there.

Is this sentences correct:
I've been to Paris where my dad was born.

Wouldn't is sound better with "the city"?
I've been to Paris, the city where my dad was born.

They are both OK.
