Hello.

When you reply to somedy asking for you on the phone, Is it better to say:

"John speaking".

or instead:

"This is John".

or I think I've seen both together "this is John speaking"

When should I use one and when the the other?

Regards

Both are OK in a business context. When I worked I used to answer the phone with just my full name. But in a personal context it is better to just say "hello".

I am not a teacher.

I say 'hello' too, but if the person asks for John I'd then say, 'speaking'.
