Jeyaretnam's 1.2%, and Lim's 0.57%. Since he got lower than 12.5% of the vote, Jeyaretnam forfeited his election deposit of S$14,500 under Singapore's electoral rules.

Can "had his election deposit of $14,500 under Singapore's a electoral rules" be used instead? Thanks.

You’ve omitted ‘forfeited’ and inserted a mysterious ‘a’ there.
