Are these sentences natural?

I've been connecting an external hard drive to the university computers. It appears it is infected. I will run a virus scan in order to remove any potential threats.

They're grammatically correct. However, I would say "It appears my hard drive is/was infected with a virus". Also, you need to make it clear whether you're going to run the virus scan on your hard drive, the university computers or both.
