2. His dog lived for 13 years. Its wasn't a terrible life. (quoted from the link below)

Are the above sentences acceptable to native speakers?
 
They're not good. It is possible to use its like that if you suitably stress the word, but I don't think you should, generally speaking. And you should discourage your students from doing it too.
 
I see nothing wrong with sentence one. Sentence two is awkward and unnatural, but after reading it three or four times, I realized it's not ungrammatical.
