Hello!

My friend during his creative writing faced some difficulties: he wants to convey the message that the idea of things is more colorful, that no dream becomes reality in accuracy.

When you imagine that you did what you dreamt of -> It's better (more colourful) than if you really did it.

And here the question: is it right to say "did" here, I mean the tense?

Or there should be a conditional sentence because of " if "?
Or may be the variant with gerund is the best? May we use "if" in gerund then?

So, here are the variants, probably there is a correct one:

1) It's better than if you actually did it.

2) It would be better if you actually did it.

3) It's better than actually doing it.

4) It's better than if actually doing it.

We'd be very grateful for your help!

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

Before we continue, please edit your post so that every sentence ends with an appropriate punctuation mark. You seem to have mastered using a question mark at the end of relevant sentences but I can't see a single full stop (period) in your post. That needs to be corrected.

Is it correct now?

I would use #3.
