Could you please check the following? I want them to sound natural in English?

  1. It takes me about three hours to commute to and from my university.
  2. It takes me about three hours to go to and back from my university.
  3. It takes me about three hours to go and back my university.
  4. It takes me about three hours to go and get back from my university.

Do you spend three hours going to university and then another three hours going home, or is a 90-minute journey in each direction? When talking about commuting, there's really no need to specify both "to" and "from". It's taken for granted that you travel both ways each day.

Do you spend three hours going to university and then another three hours going home, or is a 90-minute journey in each direction?
Great point! Thank you! Your second assumption was correct. Now how to clarify them?

I would say either:

It takes me 90 minutes to commute to work at the university.
or
I work at the university and I spend three hours a day commuting.

Thank you. But I'm a student and I don't work at university.

Ah. In that case, "commute" isn't really the word you're looking for. Generally, it's used for the time one takes specifically travelling to and from work. It's just your journey to university.

It takes me 90 minutes to get to university.
I have a three-hour round trip for university.

Is the following correct too?

It takes me 3 hours to get to university and back.

That's still ambiguous. I'd go with 'round trip' or 'each way'.
"It takes me 90 minutes each way to go/get to university each day."

"To get somewhere and back" often, perhaps usually, means in one go. "Every day I run to the university and back."
