Would it be natural to use the following bit to express what I'll explain below?

(On the face of it, it seems plausible, but...)

THE INTENDED MEANING: "At first glance, it seems ok, but..."

Actually just wanted it to be separated from the second part right below it. It doesn't come from any context, I simply had it in my mind and was wondering if I could ever use it in some writing.

Parentheses (or "brackets" in BrE) are not used that way. Use double quotes ("inverted commas") or italics.
