Can I use "transportation application" to describe an app like Uber? Does this work?

I sometimes use the Internet to request a ride on transportation applications like Uber.

That is too general. It could be anything from buying an airticket to sending a cargo.

To me, yes. It sounds silly. I don't think you want to sound like that.

You could have at least said transport app (which is still not right). Choosing to say each word in the longest way possible sounds like you're going for a special effect.
