Is this sentence correct, regarding structure and vocabulary choice?

Adolescents used less percent of the Nehbandani linguistic variables; instead, they used
more percent of Standard Persian variables compared with adult literate and illiterate informants.


Nehbandani is a dialect.
 
Adolescents used [STRIKE]less percent [/STRIKE] a lower percentage of [you could also simply say "less"] the Nehbandani linguistic [STRIKE]variables[/STRIKE] variants/variations; instead, they used
[STRIKE]more percent [/STRIKE] a higher percentage of [you could also simply say "more"]Standard Persian [STRIKE]variables [/STRIKE] variants/variations compared with adult literate and illiterate informants.


Nehbandani is a dialect.

Those are my suggestions. However, maybe "variables" is correctly used, although it sounds strange to me.
