My friend had written some sentences and in one of them he wrote:
People aspiring in this field.

I told him that the sentence does not seem to go down well grammatically but he said as "aspiring" means striving for recognition, hence it can be used.

Is it right?

I am not a teacher.

One aspires to something. 'Aspiring' as a participle usually still requires "to".
People aspiring to perfection in this field...

'Aspiring' as an adjective is used attributively as in aspiring actor.

I think you are right and your friend is wrong.
