I would like to ask you a question regarding English intonation and stress-pattern.

The word pair “very beautiful” should be stressed on “very” or “beautiful”? Could you please elaborate on the topic because I’m confused whether or not the adjective or the adverb should be stressed?

Best Regards,

Abhishek

The intensifier—in this case 'very'—is more likely to be stressed than the adjective.

'He's a rude man...in fact he's an extremely rude man.'

'One really hot day last July...'

'She's only slightly younger than me.'
