Please check my sentences. I should be using "For" before check. Am I right?
 
I asked for the cheque to be sent to me.
The insurance rep asked for a cheque to be sent to me
.

Those are more natural in BrE.
 
"That a check be sent" rather than "for a check..."
 
"That a check be sent" rather than "for a check..."

I thought both are acceptable.

A request does not have to be entertained.

The insurance rep...
 
Another possible construction:

I requested to have the check sent to me.
The insurance rep requested to have the check sent to me.
