Hi,

In Ace in the Hole, (1951 - directed by Billy Wilder for Paramount Pictures),
when Charles Tatum - a reporter played by Kirk Douglas - says to his colleagues and rivals with tongue planted firmly in cheek :

Now, what's your beef, fans? You're smart cookies. Big-city newspapermen. There's a lot of good stories lying around here, all yours. The weather, the crowds, the Indians. Inside stuff, how they weave a rug.

Here, "inside stuff", means :
1. local products (from local handicrafts)
2. inside news (like spoken in an ironic manner, "sensitive information... how they weave a rug". The punchline.

Big thanks for your help.

For me, "inside stuff" means "insider information", that which is not known to the general public.
