Have I used "indispensable" correctly and naturally in this sentence?

Rivers are an indispensable part of the natural ecosystem in every country regardless of the location of that country.

Rivers are an indispensable part of the natural ecosystem in every country regardless of [STRIKE]the[/STRIKE] location. [STRIKE]of that country.[/STRIKE]

I'd use "vital". "Indispensable" sounds as if we have the option of removing all the rivers but choose not to.

Note how I would end your sentence above.
