[General] incomplete sentence?

I don't quite understand the sentence, "Don’t leave the shower running without you as it heats up," especially "without you" not making sense to me.
It's from the page (attached) of the book I'm reading. The book is "A CHILD’S INTRODUCTION TO The Environment" by Michael Driscoll & Professor Dennis Driscoll.
Is it possible the authors missed some words here?

I think 'without you' means 'in your absence'.

It means don't turn the hot water on and then leave the room. Be attentive to the water running so you can start using it as soon as it comes out hot.

Angie, please note that a better title would have been Don't leave the shower running without you...
