Are my sentences natural and grammatical?

I have a sister. In my country people generally believe that having a sibling of the opposite gender makes it difficult for them to have a close relationship. Well, that's not my case, because my sister and I get along. Plus, she's just a bit younger than me. There's a two and a half year difference (in age).

Do you mean it makes it hard for a person to have a close relationship with a member of the opposite sex? (I would think the opposite would be true.)

I take it to mean that boys find it hard to have a close relationship with a sister (and vice versa) specifically because they are not the same sex.
