Have I made any mistakes?

In her prime, Helen was famous for her parties and love affairs with a few celebrities, but the last two decades of her life she spent alone, keeping contact with just a couple of friends. After her death, they said Helen would sit in her living room in the evenings with a bottle of wine and a stereo playing opera, and reminiscence about her eventful life. She told her friends that people bored her, and she knew what they were going to say even before they opened their mouths. Although she was wealthy in her old age and would have been able to travel whenever she wanted, she preferred to stay home, because after travelling widely, she believed people were the same everywhere.

The word you are looking for is reminisce. But I wouldn't say that. I would say something like:

She spent her time recalling earlier times, happier times. She lost herself in her memories.
