A Grammar of Present-day English. Practice book by I.P. Krylova

The task is to explain the use of the Present Continuous.

"I'm sorry", I said, "I'm being clumsy".

I'm in two minds about this.
1. Action going on at the present moment. I mean that right now I'm hehaving clumsily.
2. Actions generally characterizing the person (emotionally coloured).

Could you help me here?

His state of clumsiness is of limited duration.

I can't see how you can explain this very usefully without knowing the context.
