Hi all,

It is about conditional ''if only''.

Is it okay to say '' if only I won $ 1 million lottery, I would buy you a nice car '' ?

Why '' if only I won $ 1 million lottery'' cannot be followed by a clause ( I would buy you a nice car )

Many thanks

Yes.

Um ... it can. Is this meant to be different from the above?

Many thanks

Has anyone heard 'wan' here?? Somehow, I'd like to say 'wan'. An old form perhaps??

You want to use "wan" as the past tense of "win"? I've never seen that before.

Don't use it. :)

From my schooldays, many years ago, I can remember "win, wan, won".

I suppose it's the German influence: win = gewinnen, past tense gewann

That sounds extremely old for your school days. Never heard it.
