Please rephrase the following sentence since I think that "would have had big dreams" can by replaced with "I had big dreams" without changing its original meaning. Am I correct?

"I would have had big dreams of becoming a professional athlete, but an injury in my early twenties would ultimately prevent me from achieving that goal."

It definitely changes the meaning, but the original doesn't make much sense.

@hatimhussain Please note that I have changed your thread title. Titles should be unique, relevant to the thread, and contain some/all of the words/phrases/sentences you're asking us about. "Grammar" is useless as a title.

O.K. I will be specific about my thread title.

I can only imagine that the speaker meant to say I had big dreams ...
