Use the first. However, I would use "grateful", not "thankful". We tend to use the latter when referring to things that we are happy about on a daily basis - good health, having a job, having an amazing family. I'd also say "necessary information", not "required".

With the second, if you want to use the first person singular, you'd have to say "I would be grateful if I were provided with ...". There is definitely no need for "piece of".
